Even though the Firm has experience in all law areas, the principal areas that the Firm serves are the following:
Commercial Litigation, debt collections and foreclosure.
The Firm handles a variety of general civil and commercial litigation before U.S. District Courts and the Courts of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Attorneys in the Firm also devote time to the representation of clients before a variety of administrative agencies, in diverse areas of interest.
The Firm is also well versed in appellate practice before the Puerto Rico Supreme Court (includes five Judgments/Opinions) and Appellate Court (over hundred decisions) as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit (over five cases) and U.S. District Courts (over hundred cases).
Our Firm maintains also significant practice in the area of creditors’ rights, foreclosures and debt collection in U.S. Federal and Puerto Rico’s State Courts. Our Firm offers comprehensive collection services, from demand notices to litigation and creditor’s representation. The Firm’s lawyers have thorough knowledge of and experience in the collection process (including asset seizures, public auctions, asset search) and the laws and regulations governing that process. We assist our clients with their collection and asset seizure activities as well as provide litigation services aimed at maximizing their recoveries. Our collection strategies are tailored to the specific needs of every client, with an emphasis on quality, diligence, and agility. Our Firm also currently manage and litigate numerous cases in representation of commercial institutions (counterclaims and complaints) claiming tort damages and other alleged commercial violations.
Labor and Employment Law
The Firm’s represents employers in all aspects of employer/employee relationships. The Firm has an extensive experience in successfully defending all of the following matters:
- Grievances;
- EEOC discrimination charges;
- State and U.S. Federal court lawsuits asserting alleged violations of employment contracts, retaliations, discriminations, among others.
- Civil Rights;
The Firm’s expertise and counseling also focuses on preventive measures to help employers achieve compliance and reduce litigation risks. The Firm’s employment-litigation practice consists on representing both individual and corporate clients provided no conflict of interest exists. In connection to our corporate clients, we represent them in matters such as the following:
- general employment matters
- wage and hour claims and disputes
- wrongful discharge
- discrimination and sexual harassment claims
- workers’ compensation matters
- local labor regulations
- labor due diligence
- compliance with U.S. Federal and Puerto Rico Labor law.
Tort claims.
The Firm’s tort practice includes, but is not limited, negligence (slip and Fall, Medical Malpractice, vehicle Accidents, fires etc) intentional torts (assaults, false imprisonment, fraud, defamation), strict liability (defective products, etc) and any and all damages claims representing both individuals and employers/corporations.
Bankruptcy
The Firm’s Bankruptcy practice is centered in representing creditor’s rights in all types of bankruptcies.
Notary Services, Real estate and corporate lending
The Firm’s Real Estate and Corporate lending practice focuses in assisting real estate developers, investors and financial institutions in structuring and documenting credit transactions of all types and amounts. The Firm also provides all types of notary services (affidavit, all types of deeds, notary consultation, etc.)
Maritime consultation and litigation
The Firm represents a wide range of maritime cases mainly on Federal Court, which includes but is not limited to:
- Representation of international and domestic vessel owners and operators in all types of commercial and maritime matters;
- Defense, Investigation and prosecution of all manner of maritime claims
- Marine Insurance
- Cargo loss and damage
- Personal injury and death (Jones Act, Suits in Admiralty Act)
